Reducing my Internet Footprint

This morning, I remembered that I still had a couple of blogs and a MySpace page. I don't think I've visited any of them in at least a year, so I set upon a mission to delete them.

This was harder than I thought it was going to be.

The trouble is, I can't remember my log-ins or passwords for pretty much any of them. And they used to be all the same (I know, I know, bad idea.) You know how they say 'Never write down your passwords?' Well it's either I do that or they all have to be the same. My brain doesn't have the functionality to process or remember things anymore. It's gone. It's been replaced by 'Some Cheerios will turn that frown upside down' and 'How many times do I have to tell you to stop biting the IKEA boxes!' And I don't like it.

I went into my main email account to see that I have about 5 different email addresses. What?? Was I bored one day and just decided to snap up the names before someone else did? Probably. I only use one of them. I remember I used to have AOL, Yahoo, and Hotmail. I think I still kind of use Hotmail, but mostly for junk.

I'm sorry, Internet. I know you have no space limit, but I feel weird about having so many accounts out there that I never check. I guess in 1998, it never occurred to me that the internet would last this long.

Damn you, technology!

I did the same thing too in 1997 - I had about 7 accounts only to find that 3 of them "went out of business" in the last 5 years and I never remembered to copy my "must save" emails out of them. Oh well.

Do you have a paypal account that you haven't used in 3 years?? I challenge you to either close it or make changes so you can use it again. You'll think you're home free once you pass the 'remember password' stage. But, you're not.
